Tamrac Pro 8

Offering a traditional style design, this bag simply oozes quality. First rate construction and materials combined with a variety of practical innovations make it stand out from the crowd. Using Tamrac’s cunning LensGate system the Pro 8 will quite happily accommodate up to two digital or film SLRs with lenses, plus of course the usual assortment of accessories and gadgets that tend to get stuffed into any available pockets.

And talking of pockets, it can in fact take quite a lot more due to the extraordinary amount of them this bag has: A drop down flap on the front reveals several handy compartments and a zipped mesh space, the inside of the lid holds two large transparent zipped pouches, there are two large padded pockets with Velcro fasteners on each side, and the rear has a subtle zipped space ideal for tickets, passport, and the like. If that’s not enough, there is also an innovative ‘Slide Pocket’, which offers quick and easy access to cards, batteries, and other small items. The Slide Pocket also utilises a rather neat flagging system for marking used and unused memory cards or batteries.

The generously sized interior is well thought out and lined with a smooth, lightweight nylon. There are plenty of dividers to go round, certainly enough to accommodate pretty much any configuration I could come up with.

Almost every compartment or pocket offers some added padding or security. Not only is the base padded, but it’s also reinforced with an ABS plastic platform to aid with shock damping. Possibly a little over zealous on the lid fasteners though: a zip, a plastic clip at each end, two clips on the front flap, and Velcro fasteners.

Verdict

Practical, sensible, and useful. The Tamrac Pro 8 would make an excellent addition to anyone’s kit, amateur or pro.
